2 days off
After this final day quite stressful, I took Sunday and Monday off. Golf, beach, shopping... I could enjoy the life here in Miami. Was cool!
My next training session is starting on Thuesday in Fort Lauderdale, 1 hour driving North from Miami.

Medale race
The 10 first girls are participating at this small race which count double. The windforcast was 14-16knts...and finaly, we had only 8knts with the waves. I was slow and couldn't do my own strategy. I end up 7th at this race, which mean I loose 1 place overall and finish 5th! For my first World cup since the Olympics in 2008, I'm very happy with this result. http://www.ussailing.org/Rolex/2010/laserradial/laserradial.html
With my coach Didier, we could analyse the points we have to work on during this 3 weeks. Next event for me will be the North American Championship in Fort Lauderdale, starting on the 5th of February.

End of the regatta
It was hard to be all the time in front. The racing area was quite tricky, that's why some girls had really good races then just after quite bad one. I could stay constant during all the regatta, and after 10 races, I am 4th...very close to the girls behind me. The medale race tomorow will be stressfull!

Day 2:
Wonderful sunny day, a bit colder than the other days with "only " 20°. The north wind had blown til 15knts in the morning, decreasing to 8-10knts for our last race. Again, the racing area was quite hard. After a first start at the pin end, I just couldn't tack to cross the fleet (like Paige) and I ended up too fare on the left. After that, I'v never been able to come back to the right to catch the wind. For the second race of the day, the "holes" of wind were even more important than before. The first girls sailed very fare to the right. I passed 15th at the first mark and could catch up some places on the last upwind. I finished 7th. With the races 7, 25, 7, I'm now 6th overall.
Day 1:
The weater forcast announced 20-25knts for today, with 90° shift and less wind after the cold front has passed. The race committee decided to let us on shore for security reasons. The day has been canceled for many classes, except for us and match racing. So, we went on the water at 4pm and the Radial fleet has started with only 10knts. We even finished our race with 7knts.
After a good start at the pin end, I tacked directly to control the fleet. The racing area was quite hard to "read". Paige Railey from USA won easily. I finished 7th and quite happy for this first race. Here, you can find all the results http://www.ussailing.org/Rolex/2010/laserradial/laserradial.html
Training
I'm in Miami for my first World cup of this year. Arrived on Monday evening with my coach Didier, we could train the 2 first days in very light breeze 0-8 knts. On Thursday, the wind picked up til 12knts. Only on Friday we could hike and surf the waves. With Marit (NED) and Sari (FIN), we did a great training session in 15-20knts, sun and 28°. Speed tests, down wind, rounding marks...it was intense during 3 hours.
The Miami OCR regatta starts on Monday. I will let you know about the last news. You can find more information on the regatta website: http://rmocr.ussailing.org/
